We left Brussels in the afternoon of the 21st, and headed to Paris on our trusty buses
We got in quite late so we just hung out in the hotel and had showers. The next day we went to the Louvre and The Musee D’orsay, and i managed to get us from the musee to the latin quarter for crepes! they were great! mmm crepes….
the Louvre:
Tiffy, Katrina, me and Sayland
Tiffy and Me
Greg almost got thrown in
and Tiffy got it all on film
The Musee D’Orsay
Katrina decided to wear her ticket on her face…the french didn’t like her all that much
I really liked this statue…i didn’t write down who made it or what its called but i like it.
Then we headed back to the bus which took us to the hotel. there we got extra layers of clothes, and then headed to our river cruise along the seine. that night Jenn came to stay as her whole group was traveling about and decided to meet us in Paris!
River Cruise!
Tom and Drew taking their politics with them to Paris
(Its more funny for me, but Tom is NDP and Drew is Conservative…and they’re both in my political science class, and they’re always teasing each other about it, so this was hilarious)
ooh, and on the way to the cruise i found the most amazing dress ever.

On Thursday Katrina and Emily and i met Alix near the latin quarter, we got coffee and did the shopping thing, and then some of us headed to Versailles while Alix went back to work and Katrina and Sayland went to Eurodisney.
Spot the Hunchback of Notre Dame!
and the gargoyle!
Versailles was cool, just as ornate as everyone, including the textbooks, said it was.

Hall of Fanciness
then we headed back to the hotel, which took us 3 hours or so (or it seemed like it) although the way to Versailles took us max 45 min.
We left the hotel and went to the Eiffel Tower, where we met Jenn and took the elevator to the top. I love seeing Paris at night all lit up like that, but i suppose next time i go to Paris i’ll have to go up it in the day, as i’ve been up it twice at night!

After the Eiffel Tower we trekked to a metro stop, and found an Italian place outside it, which was amazing and the waiters were hilarious – they teased us the whole time and kept picking up Megan’s hat when it fell on the floor without her noticing!

Friday morning Emily and i went to Montmartre and met Alix, and there was much eating of Crepes, we only had about 2 hours before i had to catch the bus to the history field study. So Alix found our way for us on the metro and we said goodbye and i caught the history bus to La Coupole

La Coupole is a museum and a memorial to WW2. Its one of the sites in occupied northern France that Hitler was having his vengance weapons tested, the V-2 rockets, it was built with slave labour from the concentration camps. there are about 90 km of tunnels, and they have some open as a museum

Everyone was sad to leave Paris
we got the ferry back from Callais and got back to the ISC really late. The most hilarious part of this day was the bus ride, with my history prof and a bunch of upper years, and my friends. we watched Batman Begins, and we have a lot of crazy inside jokes about batman, so that was awesome, especially because of the amazing actors in the movie – you should all go watch it. and then we spent 2 hours making fun of peter pan, which we watched next.
to top it all off, Dr. Scott (history prof) sat in the toy cars on the ferry on the way back…
All in all, an excellent Midterm Trip!
Your France pictures remind me so much of my trip..it was awesome 🙂 thanks!
I’ll have to post some from Scotland/Ireland when I get home 🙂
yes you will have too!
Something about that statue is hot. And I never use that word.
